Jeronimo Vasquez was appointed to serve as the District 2 Supervisor on February 12, 2021, by the Coconino County Board of Supervisors.
Prior to his appointment, Jeronimo served at Killip Elementary School for 14 years working with special projects and facilitating before and after school programs. During his time at Killip, Jeronimo obtained over $1.5 million in grants to help get STEM and afterschool programming in District 2.
Jeronimo has also supported our youth in afterschool activities. He has coached elementary school children in a nationally recognized chess program, coached youth soccer, and managed Flagstaff Soccer Club's recreational soccer league. He has been a martial arts teacher and ran a martial arts program at Killip Elementary for 14 years.
As a longtime resident of our community and District 2, Jeronimo is a proud Panther and Luberjack, having graduated from Coconino High School and Northern Arizona University. He received both his bachelor's degree in Botany Studies and a Master of Social Cultural Anthropology from NAU.
Jeronimo's community involvement also includes serving 9 years on the Board for North Country HealthCare, including as the Chair of the Board for 2020. He is also a founding member of the Market of Dreams/Mercado de Suenos, located on 4th street, in the heart of District 2.
Jeronimo is proud of his Latino and Mayan heritage. His mother is originally from Guatemala and became a US Citizen just before the 2020 election. His father is a first generation Mexican - American and was a professor at NAU for three decades. Jeronimo and his family have called Flagstaff home for over 30 years. He is a father of four children and a grandfather of two.
